Donat Müller (carpenter)

Donat Müller (born July 28, 1924 in Augsburg , † February 22, 2007 ) was a German carpenter and politician.

Müller attended elementary school and the commercial school in Augsburg and then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter with a journeyman's examination. After serving in the war , he passed the master carpentry examination in 1950. He then became a partner in his father's carpentry and joinery business, where he was also a personally liable partner from 1957. From 1958 to 1982 he was head master of the carpenters' guild in Augsburg, from 1967 to 1991 he was president of the Association of Bavarian Carpenters and Timber Construction, and in 1971 he was elected to the federal board of the German carpentry trade . After becoming Vice President of the Chamber of Crafts for Swabia in 1979 , he took over the office of President in 1984. In this position he relied on the establishment of the Swabian Crafts Museum, among other things . In addition, from 1981 to 1993 he was President of the Swabian Raiffeisen District Association , which was incorporated into the Bavarian Cooperative Association in 1989 . In 1988 he moved into the Bavarian Senate , where he represented the crafts group. In 1996 he resigned from the presidency of the Chamber of Crafts for Swabia and has been honorary president since then. On October 22, 1996, upon his official farewell, he was presented with the Golden Badge of Honor of the Bavarian Crafts Day. On May 13, 1998, he resigned his Senate mandate and resigned from the Media Council, to which he was a member from 1992. He was also chairman of an association for the restoration of the Golden Hall in Augsburg City Hall .
