Dong-Won Kim (singer)
Dong-Won Kim (* in Pyeongtaek , South Korea ) is a South Korean opera singer (tenor).
Life
Kim studied singing in Seoul and at the Karlsruhe University of Music . In 2003 he won the Alexander Girardi singing competition in Coburg, and in 2004 he received first prize at the International Tenor Competition in Trogir / Croatia.
From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the ensemble at the Freiburg Theater . Here he sang a. a. Edgardo di Ravenswood in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor , Faust in Berlioz's La damnation de Faust , Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly , Almaviva in Rossini's The Barber of Seville , Fernando in Mozart's Così fan tutte , Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème and the Leicester in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda . For Faust, Pinkerton and Almaviva he was nominated as singer of the year by Opernwelt magazine .
In the 2009/10 season he appeared as a guest at the Staatstheater Kassel as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. He has been a permanent member of the company since the 2010/11 season.
