Dong-gu ( Korean 동구 ) is one of the 16 districts of Busan . It is one of the central districts of the city and the second smallest district in terms of area and population. Literally translated, however, the name means Eastern District . The district borders the Busanjin-gu , Nam-gu , Jung-gu, and Seo-gu neighborhoods in a clockwise direction .

Dong-gu consists of 4 dong (sub-districts), each of which is divided into two to five additional dong. The district thus has a total of 17 dong.

Choi Hyeong-uk (최형욱) is the district mayor.

The district has community partnerships with the Zhifu and Xuhui districts , the Chinese cities of Yantai and Shanghai .
