Dong Zhaozhi ( Chinese  董 兆 致 , Pinyin Dǒng Zhàozhì ; born November 16, 1973 in Guangzhou ) is a former Chinese foil fencer .

Career

Dong Zhaozhi was internationally successful mainly with the team. In 1995 in Seoul he was Asian champion with this, in the individual he also won the silver medal. At the Asian Games he won Hiroshima the gold medal in the individual in 1994 and also won silver with the team. In 1998 in Bangkok he won the Asian game with the team and was also part of the epee team, which won bronze. At world championships , Dong won bronze with the team in Athens in 1994 and silver in Seoul in 1999 . He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in 1996 in Atlanta he missed the finals in the individual and with the team, while in 2000 he reached the final with the team in Sydney . After victories over Russia and Italy, the Chinese team lost to France with just 44:45 and thus won silver. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, China entered the battle for the gold medal after victories over South Korea and the United States . There the team lost to Italy with 42:45, so that Dong won the silver medal again.
