Donnelly Island is an island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Léonie Islands , it is 150 m southeast of Anchorage Island in Ryder Bay on the southeast coast of Adelaide Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1993 after John Donnelly (1948-1993), chief machinist on the James Clark Ross , who died in January 1993 at the end of a research voyage of the ship due to illness.
