Armin Rost

Armin Rost (born March 13, 1943 in Stuttgart ) is a German urologist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen , Rost studied medicine from 1962 at the universities of Frankfurt am Main, Tübingen, Vienna, Hamburg and Heidelberg. In 1969 he passed his state examination in Heidelberg and obtained his doctorate. med. As an assistant doctor he worked in urology with Wilhelm Brosig at the Steglitz Clinic . Rost became a specialist in 1975, assistant professor and senior physician in 1976, and in 1978 he completed his habilitation and became a private lecturer . In 1983 he was appointed professor of urology.

In 1982, Rost moved to the Bonifatius Hospital Lingen as chief urologist , where he stayed until he retired in 2008. From 1999 to 2002 he was the hospital's medical director.

Between 1988 and 2008, Rost was on seven weekly missions of the Doctors for Developing World Committee (now German Doctors ) in the Philippines , Bangladesh , Colombia , India and Kenya . After his retirement, Rost did a lot of work in numerous assignments, including training urological doctors and nurses in Nepal and Ghana . He mobilized financial resources primarily with the help of Rotarians , of which Rost is an active member.

Armin Rost received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2009 and the plaque of honor from the Lower Saxony Medical Association in 2017 . In 2019 he was awarded the Paracelsus Medal of the German Medical Association.
