Donnie Nelson

Donnie Nelson (born September 10, 1962 ) is an American basketball official and coach. Since 2005 he has been general manager of the Dallas Mavericks' NBA team .

Nelson has held various positions in the NBA environment since 1984. From 1984 to 1986 he was a regional scout for the Milwaukee Bucks . From 1986 to 1994 he was his father Don Nelson's main contributor to the Golden State Warriors . At the same time he has been assistant coach of the Lithuanian national basketball team since 1990 , with which he won three Olympic bronze medals, as well as silver in 1995 and gold in 2003 at the European basketball championships. From 1995 to 1998 he was assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns . On January 2, 1998, he moved as an assistant coach to the Dallas Mavericks, who were coached by his father at that time. After his father left Dallas in 2005, the latter made him his successor as General Manager.
