Donovan Slijngard (born August 28, 1987 in Amersfoort ) is a Dutch football player . The left-back has been in the professional squad of the Dutch first division club Ajax Amsterdam since summer 2006 . For the 2008/09 season he was loaned to league competitor Sparta Rotterdam .

Career

society

Until 1998 Slijngard learned the ABC of football in his hometown at VV Cobu Boys Amersfoort. In the summer, the Ajax youth scouts finally lured him to the Amsterdam football boarding school, where he played in the club's youth teams until 2006. For the 2006/07 season he was finally appointed to the professional squad, which he has been part of since then. In order to give him match practice right from the start, he was awarded to the league competitor FC Groningen during the winter break of his first year as a professional , where the defensive player also made his league debut. After returning to Ajax, he was able to play his first game for the Amsterdam team there on May 28, 2008 in the Eredivisie game against FC Twente . Although already voted "Ajax Talent of the Year" in 2006, Slijngard could not prevail in his second year as a professional. The following season there was therefore a renewed loan deal with the left-back. Sparta Rotterdam secured the services of the defender for one season. His current contract with Ajax is valid until summer 2009.

National team

Slijngard has played one game for the U-20s of the Netherlands so far.
