Double looping is the name of a steel roller coaster model from the manufacturer Schwarzkopf GmbH , which was first delivered in 1979. There are two variants of double looping: one without an additional loop and one with an additional loop.

history

The first run was built in 1979 in collaboration with Werner Stengel for the showman Gottlieb Löffelhardt , one of the founders of Phantasialand . At first it only had one loop , the second was not retrofitted until a year later.

Colossus the Fire Dragon in Lagoon

Of the variant with an additional bow, there is only one delivery, which drove at the German folk festivals in 1981 among the showmen Bruch and Robrahn . It was later sold to the US-American theme park Lagoon and has been doing its laps there since 1983 as Colossus the Fire Dragon .

The drive

Depending on the variant, the route is either 630 m (without an additional loop) or 700 m (with an additional loop). It extends over an area of 78.65 m × 31.2 m and reaches a height of 26.5 m. The trains are pulled up via a chain lift hill. After the first descent , they reach a top speed of 79 km / h and pass two loops with a 14 m diameter. The entire system has a connection value of 130  kW (plus approx. 50 kW for lighting).

Trains

Double loop roller coaster rides have up to three trains with seven cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car.
