Test track is the name of a transportable steel roller coaster of the double looping model from the manufacturer Schwarzkopf GmbH . The track was built in 1979 in collaboration with Werner Stengel for the showman Gottlieb Löffelhardt, one of the founders of Phantasialand . At first it only had one loop , the second was not retrofitted until a year later. The 630 m long, 28 m high and up to 80 km / h fast roller coaster was opened as Colossus in the Playcenter São Paulo . From 1986 to 2008 she drove in Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom ( Allentown , Pennsylvania , USA ) under the name Laser .

Test track in Karlsruhe

At the end of 2008, the German showmen Meyer and Rosenzweig bought the facility for around 1.3 million euros , had it completely renovated and optimized for quick assembly and dismantling. Instead of having the two 7-section trains with 28 seats each also overhauled, they opted for the complete new construction of three 5-section trains with 20 seats each by SAT rides, which postponed the start announced for the Minden May Fair. The railway, now called the “test track”, celebrated its premiere at Hamburg Cathedral two months later. The supports, which were previously painted green, have now been repainted in white and blue, the formerly purple rail in yellow. The train, including cash registers and living containers, can be moved with 29 transports.

As a transportable roller coaster, it has no foundations , which is why the run is anchored with water tanks.

The course was well received by visitors in Dorney Park. The acceleration forces in the two loops and the helix are high compared to modern roller coasters, which is a special feature of Schwarzkopf's looping tracks.

In contrast to the other large lanes in the park, there was no unloading point for luggage that visitors take with them. So they had to take everything they brought with them on the trip. Likewise, the passengers could not choose their own seat.

As Colossus and Laser , the railway had two trains with seven cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. Simple lap bars were used as a restraint system.

The test track is the first of three systems of the double looping model .

At the beginning of 2010, the roller coaster was awarded the “FKF Award 2009” for special merits and achievements by the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks eV ( Friends of Kirmes und Freizeitparks eV ).
