The double figure eight knot or just double figure eight knot is a knot is a duplication of the figure eight knot , which also creates a thickening in the rope and serves as a stopper knot or as a handle for seafarers .
Knot
You put a bay in the rope and drive with the end in the slalom through both legs. The number of turns can be decreased or increased as needed.
You make a bay and you put the end under your own standing part .
Now pull the loose end back over the standing part and then under the other rope.
Back over the rope and under the standing part.
Again to the other side over the standing part and under the rope.
Back
And again to the other side over the standing part and under the rope.
Now just once more over the rope and under the standing part.
Close up and you're done.
Alternatives
The back splice is suitable as a permanent thickening at the end of the rope .
For a heavier thickening, which can also be thrown, the throwing knot or the monkey fist is suitable .
