Dora Kacnelson

Dora Kacnelson (born April 19, 1921 in Białystok , Poland ; † July 1, 2003 in Berlin ) was a Polish-Jewish literary scholar and journalist .

Life

Kacnelson received his doctorate from the State University in Saint Petersburg on the work of the Polish national poet Adam Mickiewicz . She lived most of her life in the western Ukrainian city of Drohobycz and taught at the Pedagogical University there as a literature professor. In her academic work she researched the revolting efforts of the Poles during the time of the Polish partitions (1772-1918).

She came to Berlin in 2000 for health reasons, where she advocated the Christian-Jewish dialogue. Kacnelson is buried in the Jewish cemetery in Berlin-Weißensee . Her archives were brought to Poland for research, including documents, manuscripts, incontinence prints and several book manuscripts.
