The Protestant village church of Bremsnitz is in the municipality of Bremsnitz in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the regional parish Tälerdörfer in the Eisenberg parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The higher village church is at the eastern end of the village west of the street in the middle of the Gottesacker .

history

In 1787 the hall church with its eastern roof tower was built in the classical style in place of a previous church. On May 25, 1830, a lightning strike damaged the organ . In 1887 it underwent a general overhaul. In 1978, at the expense of retiree Gottwald Schmidt, the tower ball , the tower flag , the pommel and numerals of the clock were gilded.

The nave

The interior has a basic baroque shape with an early classicistic character. The pulpit altar is in the east and the organ in the west of the nave . The organ was designed by Carl Friedrich Poppe the Elder. Ä. built from Roda. The organ determines the space. The stucco ceiling is reminiscent of a Saxon coat of arms . The middle shrine comes from the old church and has a late Gothic winged altar . Franz Geringswalde from Altenburg created the three figures Barbara, Hieronymus and Katharina. The bell dates from 1475 . In 1968 a second bell was purchased.
