history

In 1249 the rule of the Lords of Gleisberg and a pastor from Golmsdorf were named. The building goes back to a late medieval predecessor; The lower part of the rectangular choir tower with a ribbed vault comes from this time. The little church was given an altar in 1444; according to an inscription, the baptismal font dates from 1583. The nave and sacristy were renewed in 1685. The pulpit depicting the four evangelists was also built at the end of the 17th century. A glass picture in the choir was created in 1935 by the Jena artist Fritz Körner .

At present the church dedicated to Saint Barbara is in dire need of repair. A church building association was founded. The church tower clock was repaired by watchmaker Holger Brand from Dorndorf-Steudnitz . Sponsors were found, including private individuals. The damage is to be repaired in construction phases.
