The church

The Kirchremda village church is located in the Kirchremda district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

The church is said to have given the place its name, which was first mentioned in a document in 750-770. The place was the ecclesiastical base of the Remda villages until the city of Remda assumed this role with the takeover of town and market rights.

architecture

The tower basement of the choir tower church dates from the Romanesque period. In 1756 the tower was raised and the nave was added. The pulpit altar was assembled in 1713 from two late medieval altar retables from the 16th century. In 2007 the church tower was repaired with funds from the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments in Germany .
