The Protestant village church in Lübnitz is a Romanesque hall church in the Lübnitz district of Bad Belzig in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the St. Marien / Hoher Fläming Bad Belzig in the church district Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and can be visited by appointment.

History and architecture

The village church of Lübnitz is a field stone church from the beginning of the 13th century with careful corner blocks , a recessed square choir, which was dendrochronologically dated to 1208 (d), and an apse . It originally had a roof tower with a massive west side, which was later (according to the Dehio manual, allegedly in baroque times) expanded to form a broad tower with the addition of a partition; However, this information is rejected by Engeser as unlikely because of the tile format used at the corners. Probably at the beginning of the 16th century when the church was rebuilt in the village, which had fallen into desolation in the meantime, the west tower was rebuilt by shortening the nave and adding a partition to the nave. The crypt extension on the north side of the choir may have been built in the Gothic period and is only accessible from the choir. Most of the Romanesque windows on the nave were widened to form a basket arch, and an added portal can be found on the north side. A priest gate is arranged on the south side of the choir . A restoration took place around 1960; the church was renovated from 2007-2011. A narrow west gallery (probably from the 16th / 17th century) was later enlarged to become a horseshoe gallery. In 2010, a wall painting from around 1600 was uncovered in the apse, showing scrollwork and a Mannerist hell scene as part of a larger program.

Furnishing

The wooden pulpit was built around 1700; the original version was uncovered in 2011. On the polygonal basket there are twisted corner pillars with carved figures of the four evangelists arranged on consoles in between. On the north gallery is the patron's box with an ornamental first version from the first half of the 18th century with coats of arms on the parapet, some of which are painted on metal.

Since 2009, a bronze relief of the tree as a symbol of creation and its endangerment , which was created by Karl-Henning Seemann , has been attached to the entrance portal on the south side .
