Village church Oettern
The Protestant village church of Oettern is in the municipality of Oettern in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Buchfart in the parish of Weimar of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
location
In the southwestern village on an elevated plane near the Ilm are the church and the cemetery in a central location.
history
The church was first mentioned in a document in 1462. The building and Romanesque and Gothic style elements on the east and south walls, such as pointed arch windows, are much older. In the 18th century the church was baroque .
inner space
The interior and the two galleries as well as the cross altar result in the baroque-oriented interior.
Organ and bells
- The organ stands opposite the altar and was installed in 1861 by the organ builder Carl August Witzmann from Stadtilm .
- The bell in the church tower is from 1698.
particularities
- Relief stones above the entrance on the north wall show the visitor a man with an hourglass, which reminds of the transience of life.
- The artist Horst Jahresling painted the church in 1984.
- There is a small community room under the organ gallery.
- In the cemetery there is a grave of the forced laborers of the Nazi era
