The Evangelical Lutheran village church in Pferdsdorf is in the district of Pferdsdorf in the municipality of Krauthausen in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

The local church was built in 1766 in the Baroque style. At its location there was previously a chapel from the time before the Reformation , the main walls of which were partly used for the new building. The round arch on the east portal of the walled churchyard bears the year 1560.

In the past few years, the building, which was no longer usable, was secured and renovated. Among other things, steel girders were built in to stabilize the church tower and wood damage was removed.

Architecture and equipment

The tower is a square roof turret made of wood, the top of the tower is an octagonal tailed dome. Inside, the main and chancel form a common room with a wooden ceiling. A two-story wooden gallery is available. The year 1583 can be found on the font.

In the east wall preserved from the previous church there is a sacrament niche from the pre-Reformation period. It is covered with a keel arch , which is crowned by a Gothic pinnacle .
