The former Evangelical Reformed Church from 1928 in the Pivitsheide V. L. district is a listed church building in Detmold in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
history
The building was erected in 1928 as the first church in Pivitsheide and served at the same time as a church and a parish hall. The church, financed by donations, was built by the YMCA according to plans by the architect Schmiedeskamp from Billinghausen .
In 1965 the construction of a larger church with a separate parish hall began in Pivitsheide; this church was consecrated in November 1966. Three years later, the old building was sold to the kitchen manufacturer Bax, who subsequently used the premises as a warehouse.
In 1989 the Evangelical Free Congregation Pivitsheide acquired the village church, which was now threatened with decay, and renovated it on its own. Since 1990 it has been used as a church again by the EFG.
architecture
The single-storey hall building on a broken stone base originally had a length of three window axes, which were expanded to four in 1932. After 1932, spray plaster was applied to the massive walls. Red hollow pans cover the gable roof . The total of eight lattice windows on the eaves sides are decorated with stained glass and carved central lattices in the skylights .
In front of the hall building is a two-storey tower with a hipped roof , also covered with red hollow pans. In the slate-clad belfry, the sound holes are covered with wooden slats. Above the belfry, the slightly curved tower roof ends with a metal roof turret. Above the entrance portal there is an expressionist serrated gable with the inscription “Your kingdom is coming. 1928 ". The frames of the side windows on the ground floor are decorated with semicircular panels with decorative motifs.
