The Protestant village church Reetz is a Romanesque stone church in the Reetz district of Wiesenburg / Mark in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the Evangelical Church Community Wiesenburg / Mark in the Evangelical Church District Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

History and architecture

The village church is a hall building made of field stone blocks from the first half of the 13th century, with a retracted choir and a mighty west transverse tower slightly protruding from the nave walls. It was restored in the years 1654–1663, with the choir presumably being restored with a rectangular closure instead of an apse due to the destruction . In the years 1805/06 the end of the choir was renewed, in 1854 the windows were enlarged with a stinging arch and a northern gallery was added to the choir. A major renovation was carried out in 1904/05. The ship from the first years of the 13th century is made of irregular field stone masonry; The somewhat younger church tower, on the other hand, consists of carefully squared masonry and is dated to the first third of the 13th century. A three-tiered, round-arched field stone portal and round-arched sound hatches are set into the tower, and their twin arcades have been renewed in brick. The interior is characterized by the renovation in 1904/05: the room is closed by a wooden barrel vault, two-storey galleries are built into the north and south, and the organ gallery, broken on three sides, and the choir gallery are in the west. At the same time, the furnishings and the painting were essentially created. The remains of a stucco warrior with leaf ornamentation have been preserved on the triumphal arch .

Furnishing

The wooden pulpit with a heavy polygonal base dates from the beginning of the 17th century and was added in 1905. Two carved figures come from Medewitz (heavily damaged; currently relocated): a Madonna around 1430/40; a saint Sebastian from the second half of the 15th century. A wooden epitaph from the 17th century is provided with paintings of the Last Supper and an allegory of the cross (outsourced). A clay tombstone was placed for Michael Hörnigk († 1684). A medieval bell has been preserved. The organ is a work by Adam Eifert from 1904 with 14 stops on two manuals and pedal .
