history

There are different assumptions about the origins of building history. The Dehio manual is only very vague and speaks of a late Gothic building, which would cover the period from 1350 to around 1520/1530. The Brandenburg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the State Archaeological Museum dates the building to "around 1500" in its monument database. Engeser and Stehr, however, assume that construction must have been completed by 1450 at the latest. They base this determination so that the place in 1450 already desolate had fallen. Due to the masonry construction, they think it is conceivable that the building could have been built in the 14th century. But they, too, point out that an exact determination without further data is extremely difficult due to the far-reaching modifications. Dendrochronological investigations that could provide further information have not yet taken place. It is certain that the reconstruction of the place took place in 1571. It can therefore be assumed that the residents also made changes to the church at this time. However, these are not documented. The church was badly damaged in the Thirty Years' War and only rebuilt in 1703 - Engeser and Stehr state 1701 - under Benno Friedrich Brandt von Lindau the Younger. 1857 Advanced congregation the building toward the east; In 1880 it received the stone west tower with a new portal. It replaced a previous tower, which was probably built from wood at the beginning of the 18th century. During these renovations, craftsmen closed the original, southern access. According to tradition, the new west tower received a tower clock in 1883. In 1903 a renovation took place under the influence of the founder Konstanze Bülow.

Building description

View from the northwest

The choir and nave were essentially built from field stones that were uncut and not layered. The windowless choir east wall is straight and not drawn in; some corner stones are carved.

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. On its northern side are four segment arched windows, the window surrounds partly plastered are. Individual repair work with reddish brick can be seen in the masonry . The two windows to the west are probably from the original building - albeit not in their "baroque" enlarged form. It would also be conceivable that there was only one window on the north side. The two windows to the east were added during the renovation at the beginning of the 17th century. They were made a little wider. On the south side of the nave, between the first and second window, the remains of the blocked community gate can be seen in the center left. The round arch is still recognizable with two trusses arranged one above the other ; the rest was clogged with field stone and rock fragments. Most of the bricks are from modern times, so that only the position of the portal is likely to be original. The stones become significantly smaller towards the ridge of the roof . There is a surrounding cornice made of reddish brick. The ship has a simple gable roof made of beaver tail . Engeser and Stehr give a length of 18.00 meters with a width of 7.50 meters.

The neo-Romanesque church tower connects to the west . It was mainly built from reddish brick. The lower, transversely rectangular storey with a length of 2.80 meters does not fully take up the width of the nave at 6.5 meters. To the west is a panel made of hewn and layered field stones with a large, segment-arched portal and a cross created above it by masonry. To the left and right of the portal are two small, segment-arched windows. The two floors above are clearly set back and have a square floor plan. On the middle floor there is an ox eye on each of the three accessible sides . Above it follows the bell storey. The sound arcades, which are arranged in pairs, are housed in a large, segment-arched opening that is coupled to one another by a column. There is a clock tower on the west and east sides. The eight-fold kinked spire is clad with sheet metal. This is followed by a tower ball with a weather vane that shows the years 1880 and 1977.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are all from 1903 and borrow from homeland security architecture . The pulpit altar was made of wood, richly decorated with acanthus , which was kept in a yellow-blue tone. It is framed by two columns that support a curved pediment . There is an organ on the horseshoe gallery , the prospectus of which takes up the color and shape of the altar. The vaulted ceiling is kept in a yellow-dark green tone. A glass window on the south side of the choir shows the von Bülow coat of arms.
