Architecture and history

The hall church is of late Romanesque origin and was built from hewn field stones. From the early period there are still two Romanesque windows on the south side of the church, albeit bricked up. There are also two Romanesque portals on the north side, with the east walled up.

In the period after the Thirty Years' War the nave was raised, the elevation being carried out with very unclean masonry. To the east the church was extended by a choir, the width of which corresponded to that of the nave. On the east side there are three narrow, pointed windows. In 2000, repairs began on the church.

Interior

The ceiling of the nave is formed by a cross-beam ceiling. There is a wooden barrel vault in the church choir. On the north side of the nave there is an L-shaped gallery from the 17th century.

The cafeteria dates from the Romanesque period and has a sepulcrum . The altarpiece is two-story and dates from the first half of the 17th century. A picture of the Lord's Supper on it is framed by columns. Below the picture there is a crucifixion group in front of a city vedute . The coronation is a figure of the risen Christ while on the side there are relief figures of the evangelists John and Mark. It is assumed that the pulpit was built at the same time as the altar. The oldest pieces of equipment are two gravestones with incised drawings in front of the altar. One of the tombstones was set for a nun who died in 1316, the other for a monk who died in 1318.

The baptism is made of sandstone and dates back to the middle of the 16th century. The romanizing organ prospect was created in the second half of the 19th century.

South of the church is the Schermen mulberry tree .
