The village church of Schotterey

The Protestant village church Schotterey is a listed church in the Schotterey district of the city of Bad Lauchstädt in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is listed as a monument under registration number 094 20674 .

The village church of Schotterey is located at Schottereyer Straße 24 . The patronage of the church is unknown. The church tower and the nave were built in the Romanesque style, so one assumes a very old church. The Thirty Years War does not seem to have wreaked havoc on the church, as none of the typical signs of restoration can be found on the church. This church did not remain without renovations, as an inscription stone from 1489 shows.

The church stands on a small hill in the village and the area is surrounded by a two meter high wall. The area around the church is the site's former cemetery, which became a lawn after the new cemetery was laid out.

Since 2012 the Association for the Preservation of the Church in Schotterey eV has been trying to restore and revitalize the monument. A basic publication on the building history of the church in Schotterey was also created on the initiative of the association, but has not yet been published.
