The village church Wöllnitz is located in the Wöllnitz district of the city of Jena in Thuringia .

location

The village church Wöllnitz is within walking distance in the formerly named Unterwöllnitz part of the village , a part of the church in the rural areas of the city of Jena, immediately east of the Saale .

history

The church was built in 1740–1743 as a central building in the shape of an irregular octagon . Their striking shape is influenced by noble families such as that of Ziegesar .

The tower

The octagonal roof tower with a tail dome and lantern rises above the central area .

Walls and gables

A baroque gable emphasizes the south side. The walls of the church are broken by flat arched windows .

Interior

The character of a central building is also visible inside the church: through a transverse rectangular two-zone gallery . The transverse axis is emphasized by deep shield arches that are located between the wall pillars.

Furnishing

  • a wooden baptismal font from the 19th century
  • an organ from the early 19th century

Repair

A repair and restoration took place in 1966/67.
