Doris Köhler (born September 15, 1975 in Vienna ) is an Austrian kickboxer and boxer. Since 2002 she has won a total of seven world and four European championships in light and full contact kickboxing according to the version of the kickboxing associations WKA , IAKSA and ISKA . Since 2007 she has also been involved in professional boxing matches based on the WIBF version .

Amateur career

Her sporting ambitions began at the age of eight with judo at the Colop Samurai association in Vienna. At the age of 17 she switched to WTF Taekwondo , where she won several national and international titles, and at the age of 19 finally to kickboxing at the Vienna martial arts association Kumgang Wien. Under her coaches Roman Sendor and Robert Kolerus, she soon advanced to become the sporting figurehead of the club and was the first full contact kickboxing world champion and semi-contact silver medalist at the WKA World Cup in Marina di Massa, Italy. Further WKA world championship titles followed in 2003 in full contact with lowkicks in Antwerp, Belgium, and in light contact in Killarney, Ireland. At the Kickboxing World Cup with the highest number of participants of all time with around 2,600 athletes - the event jointly organized by the WKA and IAKSA associations in 2004 in Basel, Switzerland - Doris Köhler won gold in light contact and full contact with lowkicks. In 2005 she won the world championship in traditional full contact as well as full contact with lowkicks at the IAKSA World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Furthermore, she has won four European championship titles from ISKA in 2006 (Augsburg, Germany) and 2007 (Szentes, Hungary) in traditional full contact, full contact with lowkicks and semi-contact.

Professional career

Since 2007 Doris Köhler has been increasingly involved in professional boxing according to the WIBF version - after a short detour to Austrian amateur boxing . Under the training of the Polish-Austrian ex-Olympic boxer Mag.Jerzy Kisiel and under the wing of the Karlsruhe boxing trainer and promoter Jürgen Lutz, who accompanied Regina Halmich's career in the beginning, she tries to gain a foothold in the international professional circus and her successes as Amateur to be able to continue.

She played her first professional boxing match on January 7, 2007 in Knielingen against the German Isabell Hoher and won on points. Hoher then ended her career. In her second fight on March 31 of the same year in Karlsruhe , she reached a draw against the undefeated German Kira Schnürer.

On September 2, 2007, she was defeated in Berlin on points of the also unbeaten Nadia Raoui . On February 9, 2008, she also lost on points against the strong Israeli Hagar Finer, WIBF title holder in super fly and bantamweight. The rematch three weeks later in Israel, Koehler lost to tKo in the ninth round.

On April 21, 2012, she boxed against Ina Menzer in Schwerin , but was defeated on points.

Others

Doris Köhler works as a club trainer at Kumgang Vienna and ASKÖ Penzing, where she teaches judo, taekwondo and kickboxing, and also gives personal training in these sports. She dedicates herself very intensively to youth and youth work in martial arts.
