Ina Menzer (born November 10, 1980 in Atbassar , then the Kazakh SSR / USSR ) is a former German professional boxer in the featherweight division. She was until July 3, 2010 world featherweight champion of the WIBF , WBC and WBO . She was under contract with Universum Box-Promotion until its bankruptcy in 2012.
From October 12, 2012 she was European champion of the WBO and through her victory in her last fight on August 24, 2013 she became world champion of the WIBA version, the WBF and superchampion of the WIBF. As requested, she resigned as world champion after she had boxed once in her home town of Mönchengladbach .
Life
Ina Menzer came to Germany with her family in 1990 as an emigrant . She has two younger twin brothers and grew up in Mönchengladbach- Wickrath , where she was elected Sportswoman of the Year for the city in 2005, 2006 and 2007 . In 2009 she was named boxer of the year at the World Boxing Council .
Her boxing career began in the Mönchengladbach pugilist association . Your trainers were Waldemar Altergott and Oleg Ginkel. Even today she often trains with her comrades in a club. In 2010 she lost her title to Jeannine Garside, who despite a good fight Menzers kept the upper hand and won just on points.
In 2013 she ended her boxing career with a record of one defeat in 31 professional fights.
In 2014 she graduated with a degree in sports management .
Since her wedding in 2006 she has been called "Moos-Menzer". Her husband Denis Moos was also born in Kazakhstan and is a mechanical engineer. Both currently live in Hamburg.
Their first child, a daughter, was born in 2017 and another daughter was born in 2019.
Amateur career
As an amateur Ina Menzer became:
- Lower Rhine Champion (twice)
- West German champion
- International Champion (2001)
- Winner of the women's Ceresit Boxing Cup (2002) in the St. Pauli sports hall in Hamburg against Sonja Dürr
- German Champion (2003) at the 1st International German Women's Boxing Championships (IDBF) in Meppen (Lower Saxony)
Professional career
Ina Menzer completed her first professional fight on March 30, 2004. On October 22, 2005, in her eleventh professional fight, she won the WIBF world championship in featherweight (up to 57 kg) with a point victory over Silke Weickenmeier . On March 8, 2008, in her 20th professional fight and the 9th defense of her title, Ina Menzer won against the Canadian Sandy Tsagouris in 10 rounds. Since the WBC world champion title was vacant, she has since been double world champion. In October 2009, the WBO also awarded a world championship belt. The first wearer in the “featherweight” class was Ina Menzer, who was three times world champion .
Ina Menzer had successfully contested 16 World Championship fights. Most recently she won on January 9, 2010 in Magdeburg by technical knockout in the 6th round against Ramona Kühne . On July 3, 2010 she lost on points against Jeannine Garside , who was able to secure the titles of WIBF, WBC and WBO. Jeannine Garside stretched the then world champion Ina Menzer again shortly before the end of the tenth lap. However, Menzer was able to get up again. But Garside no longer has any titles because she has meanwhile become a mother.
After 27 months without a title, Ina Menzer will be the European featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization on October 12, 2012.
On August 24, 2013 Ina Menzer played her last fight, which took place for the first time in her hometown Mönchengladbach in the hockey park . She defeated the previously undefeated world champion Goda Dailydaite WBF in ten rounds on points with 100: 88, 100: 88 and 97:92.
Ina Menzer is thus world champion of the WIBA version , the WBF and super champion of the WIBF.
