Dorothea Hölscher-Lohmeyer

Dorothea Hölscher-Lohmeyer (born: Lohmeyer ; born November 6, 1913 in Berlin ; † November 28, 2008 in Heidelberg ) was a German specialist in German and an important Goethe researcher.

She studied with Max Kommerell , among others, and received her doctorate in 1937 with a thesis on the 2nd part of Goethe's Faust ( Faust and the World. An attempt on the 2nd part of poetry ; printed in Leipzig 1939). The work was published in a modified version in 1975 under the title Faust and the World. The 2nd part of the seal. Instructions for reading the text . She then completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk and worked as a publishing editor.

Dorothea Hölscher-Lohmeyer has been honored with various awards, including the Golden Medal of the Goethe Society in 1991 . She was married to the classical philologist Uvo Hölscher ; their common sons are the classical archaeologist Tonio Hölscher and the modern historian Lucian Hölscher .
