Dorothee Henzler (born October 7, 1992 ) is a German gymnast.

Henzler is a member of the VfL Kirchheim / Teck gymnastics team, with whom she competed in the 2nd Bundesliga between 2004 and 2012 and at times (from 2006 to 2008) also in the 1st Bundesliga. Since the training opportunities in Kirchheim were limited, she had to train regularly in Stuttgart.

Her first success at the national level was the German runner-up in the all-around competition at the German Youth Championships in 2005 in age group 13. In addition, she secured the championship on the floor and came second on the vault .

In the following year 2006 she was able to defend her runner-up title in the all-around competition in age group 14. She also took second place three times on the uneven bars , balance beam and floor . In 2006 she won the bronze medal with the German team in the all-around competition at the European Junior Championships in Volos .

After a long break from injury, Henzler celebrated her greatest success to date in Frankfurt am Main in 2009. At her first German championships in the elite class, she was German runner-up in the jump and third on the ground . In the all-around competition she took 6th place.

In April 2010 she was part of the German squad at the European Championships in Birmingham. Together with Oksana Chusovitina , Lisa-Katharina Hill , Marie-Sophie Hindermann and Elisabeth Seitz , she achieved 9th place in the team competition. The German team thus missed the entry into the final of the eight best nations.

At the beginning of August 2010, Dorothee Henzler injured her shoulder during a federal cadre training course and had to be operated on. In the time after the operation, she was initially unable to compete on the uneven bars , which is why she was not nominated for the World Championships in October this year.

At the German Championships in Berlin in September 2010, she was again German runner-up in jumping and was sixth twice on the balance beam and floor . In the all-around competition, she did not get past 13th place because she had not exercised on the uneven bars due to the previous shoulder injury.

In 2011 she finished 9th in the all-around competition and 6th in the final at the jump at the German Championships . The following year she interrupted her gymnastics career after passing her Abitur to take time off. She competed in her last competition for the time being on October 20, 2012. Then she paused, did a. a. a trip to New Zealand and then began studying sports science at the University of Tübingen. Since October 2013, Henzler has been active again for the VfL Kirchheim team.
