Dorothy Moulton-Mayer

Dorothy Moulton-Mayer (* 1886 in Crouch End, London ; † 1974 ) was an English singer and biographer .

Life

In 1919 she married the entrepreneur and philanthropist Robert Mayer . After completing her vocal studies, Moulton-Mayer became first singer in Vienna in 1923 and got engagements in Salzburg, Budapest and America. Together with her husband, Moulton-Mayer also devoted himself to promoting the next generation of musicians, and in 1923 they both founded the “orchestral concerts for children”.

Moulton-Mayer has also worked as a writer since the 1950s. She has published biographies on, among others, Luise von Savoyen , Marie-Antoinette and the violin virtuoso Louis Spohr .
