Dorsetshire is a German band that is part of the Dark Wave movement. She was founded around 1992 and released her official debut album The Last Battle with her best-known songs Straße der Verdammnis und Herzschlag in 1996. The project was dissolved in 1998, but in 2017 it was re-founded by the frontman Monaco-X among others Bruno Kramm , known from Das Ich .

history

Dorsetshire was founded in 1992 by Jürgen Ellenrieder (Monaco-X) together with Jörg "Jogy" Wolfgram from Relatives Mensch sein and Andy Age as a Dark Wave and EBM band and named themselves after the HMS Dorsetshire , a warship of the British Royal Navy , which, together with other ships, was involved in the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941 . In the same year, the project released a music cassette entitled Dorsetshire on the Danse Macabre label and in 1994 the album The Last Battle at Off Beat followed. The songs Straße der Verdammnis and Herzschlag from their debut album became club hits that made the band known in the scene. In 1996 the album Beast followed and in 1998 the musicians decided to break up the band project.

In 2017 the band was re-founded by Jürgen Ellenrieder (Monaco-X), who was able to win over Bruno Kramm from Das Ich as keyboardist as well as drummer Flo Prantl and guitarist Patty Juhasz. The band started their new activity with an appearance at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig as well as at other festivals such as the Nocturnal Culture Night 2017. In 2018, the band released the EP Timemachine , again on the Kramm-led label Danse Macabre, for that too new revised versions of Damnation Street and Heartbeat have been added.
