The Dortmund Energy and Water Supply GmbH (proper name: DEW21, where the 21 refers to the 21st century) is a German energy and water utilities .
Company profile
DEW21 supplies the residents of Dortmund with natural gas, electricity, heat and water. It offers services related to these products for business and private customers, supplies the municipalities of Herdecke with natural gas and water and is upstream supplier for drinking water in Holzwickede , Schwerte and Iserlohn . DEW21 also sells its natural gas and electricity products outside of Dortmund. The company participates in the expansion of renewable energies , including the construction of wind power and landfill gas systems .
Chairman Managing Director since July 2017 Heike home. DEW21 employs over 1,000 people, including around 70 trainees.
history
The Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH was founded in 1995 from the Dortmunder Stadtwerke and the then VEW . The current shareholders are Dortmunder Stadtwerke AG (DSW21) with 60.1% and Innogy SE with 39.9%.

Events
Since April 15, 2016, the DEW21 E-Bike Festival has been held annually with Shimano around the Reinoldikirche , where electric bikes are presented and a cargo bike race takes place. In 2020 the event was canceled due to the corona pandemic .
