The Dotson Ice Shelf is a 50 km wide ice shelf before Bakutis- and Walgreen Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It lies between the Martin and Bear Peninsula .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it using aerial shots of Operation Highjump (1946-1947) in January 1947. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named in 1967 by William A. Dotson, duty officer of Eiserkundungseinheit in the oceanographic department of the United States Navy , who died on November 27, 1964 in a plane crash while on duty in Alaska .
