The Bakutis Coast is a stretch of coastline in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land on the Amundsen Sea . It extends from a landmark at 74 ° 42 '  S , 127 ° 5'  W opposite the eastern Dean Island to Cape Herlacher . The coast is determined by large offshore islands enclosed by the ice and by the Getz Ice Shelf .

The coast was sighted during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). Partial mapping was carried out using aerial photographs of Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The United States Geological Survey completed the mapping on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1959 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Rear Admiral Fred Edward Bakutis (1912-2009), commander of the support units of the US Navy in the Antarctic between 1965 and 1967.
