Douglas Boyd Eggers (* 21st September 1930 in Wagner , South Dakota ) is a former American American football poker players. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) with the Baltimore Colts and the Chicago Cardinals .

Player career

Doug Eggers attended high school in his hometown and studied at South Dakota State University from 1949 to 1951 . There he played as a linebacker for the jackrabbits of the college football team . In 1951 he acted as team captain and was elected to the league's selection team. He has received three college awards for his sporting achievements.

Upon completing his studies, Douglas Eggers joined the United States Army and played football on a military team under Head Coach Al Davis . After completing his military service, he denied trial training with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Colts. A signing bonus of 500 dollars , he signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Colts, of Weeb Ewbank were cared for. After the 1957 season, Eggers moved to the Chicago Cardinals and ended his career after the game round in 1958. In 1980 he was inducted into the South Dakota State University Sports Hall of Fame from his college .

After the playing career

Doug Eggers ran a construction machinery rental company until his retirement . The company has several offices and is currently run by his son. He himself now lives in Savage , Maryland .
