Doug Roth

Douglas Keith Roth (born August 24,  1967 in Knoxville (Tennessee) ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

Roth, who is almost blind in the right eye, played as a teenager first at Karns High School in Knoxville and from 1985 to 1989 at the University of Tennessee . Based on his statistical yield, the 1988/89 season was his best there, when the 2.11 meter tall inside player averaged 9.9 points as well as 8.1 rebounds and two blocks per match. Roth was called in the second round (41st position) of the NBA professional league drafting procedure by the Washington Bullets  . During the 1989/90 NBA season he played 22 games for the capital city and scored an average of 1.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per encounter.

In the game year 1990/91 Roth played seven games (1.1 points, 3.3 rebounds / game) for the Pensacola Tornados in the US league Continental Basketball Association (CBA). 1991/92 he was with the Louisville Shooters in another US league, the GBA, under contract. From 1992 to 1994 Roth played in Germany  for the Bundesliga club MTV Giessen . At the end of January 1994, a dispute between Roth and Giessen's coach Hannes Neumann over a substitution led to Neumann resigning from his position.
