Douglas Esteban Sequeira Solano (born August 23, 1977 in San José ) is a former Costa Rican football player ( defender ).

Career

Sequeira moved from his home country to Feyenoord Rotterdam in 1997 , where he was active until 1999 when he moved to Karlsruher SC . In the 1999/2000 season he played 24 second division games for KSC, but rose with his team as 18th at the end of the season. He then moved back to Costa Rica, where he played for Deportivo Saprissa and AD Municipal Liberia until 2004 . In 2004 he became national champion with Deportivo Saprissa.

For the 2005 season he was brought into Major League Soccer by Real Salt Lake , but immediately passed on to CD Chivas USA , where he played in the 2005 season. During that season, he moved back to Real Salt Lake. After the 2006 season, his contract was not renewed. Sequeira signed a three-year contract with Tromsø IL in December 2006 . In August 2009 he moved back to his homeland to join Deportivo Saprissa .

Sequeira played for various Costa Rican youth national teams. In 2004 he made his debut in the senior national team. Since then, he has represented his country at the Copa America 2004 in Peru, the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2005 in the USA and in the successful qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany .
