Dov Bigon ( Hebrew דֹב ביגון, 1940 in Cholon , League of Nations mandate for Palestine ) is a rabbi and founder and director of Orthodox yeshivot and religious-Zionist organization for boys ( Machon Meir ) and girls ( Machon Ora , מכון אורה).

Life

He was born in Cholon in 1940 as the son of secular Jews who immigrated to Israel before the Shoah. At the age of 14, he went to the kibbutz Mishmar Hasharon in 1954 and worked in the HaSchomer haTzair (השומר הצעיר) and in the HaTnua haMuchedet (התנועה המאוחדת) youth association . After his military service in the Israeli army, he completed an officer training and was deputy company commander of the Jerusalem Brigade (16th Brigade) during the Six Day War . Bigon was involved in nature conservation and worked for the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel .

At the age of 23 as a student of Aaron Keller (אהרן קלר) - Rabbi of Nahariya - he began to study Judaic Studies in the yeshiva in Kfar Hasidim (he .: כְּפַר חֲסִידִים), later he continued his studies at the Merkas HaRaw Kook in Jerusalem.
