Downie Ridge is a geothermally heated ridge on Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It extends from the southern end of Stonethrow Ridge in a west-southwest direction.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2010 after Roderick H. Downie, environmental manager of the British Antarctic Survey from 1997 to 2010, who was involved in drawing up the protection program for Deception Island. The ridge is part of the Antarctic Specially Protected Area # 140 .
