María Teresa Hincapié

María Teresa Hincapié (* 1956 in Armenia (Quindío) , Colombia ; † 18th January 2008 in Bogota , Colombia) was a Colombian Performance - artist who turned her life into a continuous performance.

Life

Hincapié first studied acting and developed her work in the direction of performance art, where she was a pioneer in this artistic field in Colombia. She traveled to France, Indonesia, India and Japan to study experimental theater and the traditional dances of India. She was a member of the Acto Latino theater group and worked with Colombian and Mexican directors, choreographers and screenwriters Alvaro Restrepo and Juan Monsalve .

  • 2002: Grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
