history

In 1986, Dr Pepper / Seven Up  Inc. was formed through the merger of the Dr Pepper Company and Seven Up Company .

In 1995 Dr Pepper / Seven Up was acquired by the British confectionery group Cadbury Schweppes . Until 2008 Dr Pepper / Seven Up was a subsidiary of the group.

In 2003 the North American beverages division Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages of the Cadbury Schweppes Group was created from the merger of Dr Pepper / Seven Up , the Snapple Beverage Group , Mott's LLP and Bebidas Mexico .

In 2008 Cadbury Schweppes spun off the beverages division from the group. The new company, based in Plano, Texas , now operates as Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc.

distribution

In many countries, Dr Pepper Snapple has licensed the distribution rights to Coca-Cola and other partners, as Dr Pepper / Seven Up has practically no filling facilities of its own. The distribution rights outside of North America are owned by PepsiCo , which has owned Seven Up International since 1985.

United States

In the United States, Dr Pepper does not have its own network of bottling and distribution partners like its larger competitors Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo. Instead, independent partners of these companies and other smaller bottlers often sell the drink.

Germany, Austria

In Germany, Dr Pepper was first available in 1997 (mainly at petrol stations and train stations). In May 2006, the Krombacher brewery took over the license and distribution of the Schweppes brand (including Dr Pepper) for Germany and Austria.
