Dragon Order

The Dragon Order was founded by the Chinese Emperor in 1863.

The purpose of the order was to honor military personnel, especially French , who had excelled in the fight against the Chinese rebels in the years 1861–1863. Other foreigners could also receive the order as a token of favor from the emperor. This award was only given in the first class.

Order classes

The order was divided into three classes.

Order decoration

The decoration differed in the classes in the choice of material. For the first class was gold , for the II. Silver and for the III. Class bronze intended.

The round medal has the Chinese dragon with the five large claws double on the front . The reverse contains the motto of the order in Chinese characters. In front of him the lion turns pale and the tiger falls silent .

The ribbon is yellow and the award was worn on the left side of the chest
