Drago Grdenic

Drago Grdenić (born August 31, 1919 in Križevci ; † September 7, 2018 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian chemist, pioneer of crystal structure analysis and organic mercury compounds in Yugoslavia.

Life

Drago Grdenić graduated in chemistry and physics in 1942 and received his doctorate in 1951 from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb . He also studied at Moscow University (1946-48) and specialized in Oxford .

He was one of the founders of the Scientific Institute "Ruđer Bošković" in Zagreb, rector of the University of Zagreb (1976–1979), member (1973–2018) and secretary (1973–1975) of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts .
