action

In a fictional world that makes use of numerous European legends, the student Ryūji Kisaragi ( 如月 竜 司 , Kisaragi Ryūji ) goes about his usual daily business. However, he is more or less kidnapped from school by his grown-up cousin Eriko Nanao ( 七 尾 英 理 子 , Nanao Eriko ), because he has to help her with the delivery of a Lost Precious , a magical object. He quickly realizes that she is actually not involved in the handover and that she wants to take possession of the box with questionable contents. Eriko, who is a collector of these items, manages to sabotage the delivery, and both of them flee as quickly as possible with their loot. Almost caught up, the contents of the box are revealed to them. Inside it is the dragon girl Rose, also known as the red dragon . With their help or their fire magic, they manage to outpace their pursuers.

To the amazement of Eriko, Rose shows an extreme affection for Ryūji and does not leave his side anymore. Since Rose ( ロ ー ズ ) cannot speak at this point in time, they try to find out together why Rose is so fixated on him, which is usually the case with dragons only with the first caregiver. When they look for the answer in Ryūji's past, they come to the conclusion that Ryūji met her in Europe when she was born and that she saved his life as a stray boy, separated from his parents. Since he was also the first person she saw, this explains her extreme affection for him.

As Rose gradually learns to speak, Eriko decides to introduce her to a scientist and friend from the Society ( ソ サ エ テ ィ ). The goal is to find out more about Rose. This turns out to be very difficult, however, since Rose still does not want to leave him a bit. However, the situation comes to a head when the recipient of the "box", in turn known as the black dragon , prepares to kidnap Rose. Neither the guards nor Ryūji or Eriko can do anything to prevent Rose from being kidnapped by him. Willing to bring Rose back, Ryūji and Eriko go to his parents' treasury. There is said to be a Lost Precious that is only intended for him. After all, like Eriko, he is a so-called breaker . People who are able to harness the ability of treasures. According to her, he should be one of the few breakers with the highest level and thus be able to use the weapon. But he definitely has his problems. Nevertheless, they make their way to the headquarters of the black dragon. Here they have to face Rose's kidnappers again and seem inferior to him again. However, Rose comes into physical contact with Ryūji and can form a connection with him, which is known as Engage . As a result, she diverts part of her strength into Ryūji's attack, who finally sees himself inferior to her opponent and flees.

In the period that followed, the communal life returned a little more calmly, with Ryūji's relationship with his school friend Misaki Etō ( 江 藤 実 咲 , Etō Misaki ) moving more into focus. So Misaki can’t believe that in her eyes Ryūji is now in a relationship with another girl and is ignoring her. On the other hand, Rose is also extremely jealous of Misaki. This remains the case even when everyone is on vacation together on a southern island. However, here they meet the female white dragon Maruga ( マ ル ガ ), who asks her and in a certain way blackmailed her to get a Lost Precious from her family back for her. The current owner is a notorious breaker and priest who, it turns out, has an egregious anger towards dragons. However, since the dragons are indistinguishable from humans at first glance, it happens that he even falls in love with Maruga and both can resolve their mutual conflict, which is based on misunderstandings and contradicting statements.

From this point on, numerous other arcs follow, most of which relate to another dragon or the side effects of Lost Precious. The half-wolf Ai ( ア イ ) establishes herself as another important main character , who was once true human, but was transformed into that figure by her master, who wrapped her in his charm through a Lost Precious. The appearance of the girl with iris heterochromia therefore varies between that of a normal person and that of a kemonomimi . Ultimately, however, she was able to break away from her 'master' and has been helping Ryūji ever since, although Rose, like all other women, sees it as a competitor.
