Dragos Pancescu (born November 16, 1967 in Bucharest , Romania ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ). He has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2017 .

Life

Dragos Pancescu was born in Romania and spent his youth in Germany. After graduating from high school, he did military service in the armed forces and completed a commercial apprenticeship. From 2001 to 2017 he worked as an independent entrepreneur in the EDP / IT sector.

Pancescu has been a member of the council of the city of Brake (Unterweser) since 2011 , to which he already belonged from 2001 to 2006, and has been chairman of the Green parliamentary group there since 2016. Since 2012 he has been a member of the district council of the Wesermarsch district . In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , he received a mandate on his party's state list.

Dragos Pancescu is the spokesman for consumer protection, federal and European affairs and petitions in the Green parliamentary group. Pancescu is also the Brexit representative of his group.

He is a member of the parliamentary committee for federal and European affairs, in the petitions committee , in the subcommittee for consumer protection and a deputy member in the subcommittee on ports and shipping.

Dragos Pancescu is a founding member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament and speaker of his parliamentary group in the Europa-Union Lower Saxony. He campaigned for the abolition of the time change in the Lower Saxony state parliament.

Pancescu is actively involved in the sea rescue of refugees, whereby he is a stronger commitment of the federal states . and represents municipalities. He spoke out in favor of the right to demonstrate , which he considered to be restricted in 2020 due to the measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany .

Pancescu is committed to effective protection of consumer rights in the financial sector and supports the OpenSCHUFA initiative.

Dragos Pancescu advocates more Europe in the Lower Saxony constitution and requested a constitutional amendment in the state parliament.

Hobbies and sports

Dragos Pancescu is a passionate sled dog athlete. He owns Siberian huskies and occasionally takes part in sled dog races across Europe.
