Dream of an Opium Eater is an international instrumental band project that was originally formed for a one-off performance during the Roskilde Festival . As a live band, she accompanies horror films in a purely instrumental metal style .

Band history

Dream of an Opium Eater was formed in 2007 during the Roskilde Music Festival in the Danish city ​​of Roskilde for a one-off performance. The band consisted of the musicians Ivar Bjørnson, guitarist of the Norwegian band Enslaved and Trinacria, Reuben Gotto, guitarist of the British bands Johnny Truant and Twin Zero , Julia Ruzicka, bassist of the British The Quiet Kill and the drummer Ben Calvert, who at the time played at Killing Joke and Malpractice.

The performance on July 7th, 2007 consisted of the band's instrumental accompaniment to Norwegian horror films that were shown on a big screen. These were the films Idyll , Audition , Down Under , Oppvåkningen , Naïn and Su Skal få en Dag Imorgen .

Although the gig was originally intended to remain a one-off, the band performed with the same line-up at the Carling Leeds Festival in Leeds on August 23, 2007. A third show took place at Wacken Open Air on August 1st, 2008. In 2010 she participated in the Dutch Roadburn Festival in Tilburg .
