Dreamcatcher ( Korean 드림 캐쳐 ), formerly known as MINX , is a South Korean girl group that is under contract with the Dreamcatcher Company label (until February 2019 directly with Happyface Entertainment). The band consists of seven members: JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyeon. The official debut was on January 13, 2017 with the single album Nightmare .
Typical for the unique sound of Dreamcatcher are heavier guitar riffs, which are placed under the catchy melodies of the songs.
Career
2014–2016: debut as MINX
Before the band appeared as Dreamcatcher in the current line-up, five of the seven band members made their debut as MINX in August 2014 with the electronically tinged upbeat songs Action and Why Did You Come To My Home? . However, the EP Love Shake , which was released in July 2015, failed to enter the top 10 of the Korean charts. In 2016, Happy Face Entertainment announced that they were working towards a re-debut of the group.
Since 2017: Re-debut as a dreamcatcher
With two new members and a completely new sound, Dreamcatcher managed to double the sales figures they had previously achieved with their first single album, Nightmare . With the single album Fall Asleep in the Mirror , which was released in April 2017, Dreamcatcher even entered the Korean charts at number 7. The band's first EP, Prequel , even made it to number 4 in the charts in July 2017.
On August 1, 2017, Happy Face Entertainment announced that Dreamcatcher will embark on their first world tour in 2018 to promote Prequel . In Germany they could be seen on February 22nd at the Columbia Theater in Berlin.
