The Dahnbach is a 2 km long stream in the area of the Unterrot district of the small town of Gaildorf in the Baden-Württemberg district of Schwäbisch Hall , which comes from the northeast and flows into the middle Kocher from the right , immediately after it has passed through the hamlet of Münster .

geography

course

The Dahnbach arises on the western ridge of the Limpurger Mountains, which stretches between the valleys of Kocher in the west and its countercurrent tributary Eisbach to the east from Winzenweiler to Sulzbach am Kocher , in the northern part of the Ladstatt forest near a starway of the central Höhenweg. It rises about a hundred meters west of the forest hut located there at about 477  m above sea level. NHN at the beginning of his rapidly expanding and eintiefenden, west southwest ongoing forest blade between the left, to fall expiring at Munster spur the height Won Tännich and the right accompanying shorter height Won Krämer Reute . After less than 200 meters, the loop of the valley of a well-developed forest path running on the upper slope crosses the bed of the stream, which then runs through the Reute forest below .

About 1.0 km after the source it leaves at about 364.2  m above sea level. NHN at the bottom of the slope the forest. There flows, most recently from the north of the tub tapering, km a second Quellast of around 0.8 or something does not contribute more in length, the square kilometers with about 0.4 to less than the sub-basin Dahnbach itself with about 0.5 square kilometers to to this right source branch and which arises about 0.8 km northwest of the Dahnbach origin on the above-mentioned slope path near an old sand pit. This right upper course runs through a steeply incised blade to the southwest, before it turns in the tub to the south and passes the Gewann Gurgel under the spur of Kirchberg in the west.

At the inlet, the Dahnbach changes only briefly to a southerly course in a tree-rich meadow landscape, turns right when it falls to the west and reaches the outskirts of the Gaildorf hamlet of Münster , which it crosses, partly twisted under a street. At the western edge of the village, the Dahnbach then flows out to about 324  m above sea level. NHN near an old vaulted cellar from the right under the riverside path into the middle cooker.

The Dahnbach ends its 2.2 km long path about 153 meters below its origin, it has a bottom gradient of about 69 ‰.

Catchment area

The Dahnbach drains around 1.4 km² on the western slope of the Limpurger Mountains , which , in terms of natural space , are predominantly part of the sub-area, with the smaller part near the mouth, but to the sub-area of the Gaildorf Basin of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . Its about 511.3  m above sea level. The highest altitude reaches the catchment area at its northern tip on the plateau in the Krämersreute .

From there to a little after the forest hut, near which the stream rises, the northeastern watershed towards the upper Eisbach and its short right tributaries follows roughly the central forest path on the western ridge of the Limpurger Mountains. The south-eastern border starting there on the spur of the Tännich down to the fall and then the southern further up to the mouth delimits the catchment area of the Argersbach , the next higher right-hand Kocher tributary. Behind the west-north-west of the estuary up the spur of the Münsterer Kirchberg to back into the Krämersreute, the Hagersbach , the next lower right inflow of the Kocher , drains the drainage of all competitors in turn.

The highest point in the Krämersreute is on a knoll of Upper Bunten Marl ( Mainhardt Formation ), everywhere else on the plateau there is silica sandstone ( Hassberge Formation ). The lower colored marl ( Steigerwald formation ) and finally a narrow, morphologically barely recognizable strip of reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ) follow on the slope and in the loamy blades . The deepest geological layer is the gypsum keuper ( grave field formation ), which begins before the source streams merge and into which the stream flows. So the whole area is in the Mittelkeuper . Following roughly the line of the upper course blade of the right source stream, a fault line is suspected with the deep floe in the southeast.

The plateau and slope are almost completely forested, and in the meadow landscape below there are numerous high-stem fruit trees. The only settlement in the area is the hamlet of Münster at the mouth, which, like the whole area, belongs to the Unterrot district.

Stream nature and protected areas

The main branch of the Dahnbach has torn a steep blade in its section on the upper slope, in which it flows quickly over blocks. On the lower slope it changes into a meandering stream that oscillates in a one to two meter wide bed between flat and steep banks.

The blade of the second branch shows a sharp edge at the top with partly overhanging, mossy rocks. The creek there, only half a meter wide, does not carry water permanently. In the section that runs south after that, it also shows natural meanders and is sunk half a meter deep, towards its mouth it runs like a trench next to an alder gallery at the edge of the forest.

On the common lower course in its meadow landscape, there are alternating small sand and gravel banks in the approximately one and a half meter wide, up to two meters deep bed, which is accompanied by a gallery of alders, ash trees and willows. This widens at one point before the change to the west run on the left to a field wood on a spring-rich embankment.

The entire area is located in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park , its open land portion down to the outskirts of Munster and above it a small slope forest portion to the landscape protection area Kochertal with adjacent mountain ranges .
