Dreamcatcher Interactive was a Canadian game publisher. The company was founded in 1996 by Richard Wah Kan in Toronto . In 2003 the company's own publishing label The Adventure Company was founded . In 2006 Dreamcatcher was taken over by the Austrian game publisher JoWooD . After JoWooD's bankruptcy in 2011, all of DreamCatcher's trademark rights were also sold to Nordic Games .

Company history

After it was founded in 1996, Dreamcatcher mainly published adventure and simple strategy games. In March 2000, the French publisher Cryo Interactive Entertainment took over a majority stake in Dreamcatcher, whereby Dreamcatcher took over the publication of all Cryo titles for the North American market. In January 2002 Dreamcatcher founded his publishing label The Adventure Company, which specialized in the publication of adventure games. Despite the bankruptcy and closure of Cryos, Dreamcatcher was able to continue business operations and opened a European office in Paris for the first time in January 2003.

In November 2006 the Austrian publisher JoWooD announced the takeover of Dreamcatchers in order to expand its market position in the North American market. Dreamcatcher subsequently distributed the JoWooD product catalog for North America. In 2011 JoWooD had to file for bankruptcy, in August 2011 Nordic Games acquired all rights from JoWooD and the naming rights to The Adventure Company. On November 17th, Nordic Games also announced the acquisition of all trademark and game title rights from DreamCatcher. Since then, Dreamcatcher has only served as a publishing label for Nordic Games.
