Bogie types (Switzerland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The aim here is to show in chronological order which bogie types were used on Swiss railroad cars. This subject area of Swiss wagon construction is not documented in great detail, but above all the manufacturers' official type designations are often missing. Where these type designations are not known, a designation consisting of the manufacturer and the first known year of construction is used, followed by an asterisk (*). The spelling with a space or hyphen is inconsistent, and both spellings are often found in the manufacturer's documents for the same type of bogie. A hyphen is always used here for the sake of uniformity.

Manufacturer

Most of the bogies were made by before the turn of the millennium

Due to the restructuring in vehicle construction, it has been the global providers since then

  • Bombardier (legal successor to SWP / SWS)
  • Stadler (including the former FFA plant), with a new bogie plant in Winterthur
  • Alstom (including former SIG)
  • Siemens

The internationally standardized types are predominantly used for freight wagons; there are only a few special features in the narrow-gauge railways sector. Freight carriage bogies were and are manufactured by
