The church

The Evangelical Trinity Church is in Stützerbach , a district of Ilmenau , in the Ilm district in Thuringia . The parish is part of the parish of Henneberger country in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

Until 1946, Stützerbach was politically divided into the Prussian and Weimar areas above the Lengwitz brook .

The Weimaraner built the Dreieinigkeitskirche in their area in 1716. In 1719 the church tower stood .

On April 5, 1945, the roof structure burned due to shelling by American forces . He fell into the nave with the ceiling . The reconstruction took place in 1946 .

The small church and its baroque tower are slated , the south side is clad with wooden shingles.

In 1990 the parishes officially united and then belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Saxony . Since then, the Trinity Church has been the main church of the Stützerbach community. It is the only parish in the Henneberger Land parish north of the Rennsteig .

In 1995 the facade and the tower were renovated.

On July 23, 2018, the historic Kühn organ was expanded and is being restored by the organ building company Hoffmann and Schindler.
